Quack Watch has done its job too well for our good. It has convinced many people that holistic therapies are no better than snake oil. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Take acupuncture for instance. I was recently asked "how can sticking a needle in you cure anything?" So why is acupuncture still around, having been in existence for 1900 years (at least) and why has it been adopted by the NHS? Why is its use so common in Asian countries like China, Japan and Korea? Why has the World Health Organisation verified the efficacy of Acupuncture?
I tnink the problem is that people in the West don't understand the theory that underpins acupuncture. They then assume that because they don't understand it, so it must be nonsense. This sort of prejudice acts to create a closed mind. It also leads to people having incorrect views and maybe that means they will miss out on something important.
In fact acupuncture is highly beneficial and effective and even the Government's health watchdogs have now told acupuncturists like me that we are permitted to inform people how effective it is for treating pain and migraines. I have helped women to improve their fertilily and conception. I have helped people to overcome the effects of stress and depression. Why not give acupuncture a try. I am currently offering the first two treatments for only £10 a session for people who have never tried it before.
